What is Hyperadobe?

Hyperadobe earthbags use a polyethylene UV treated raschel mesh tube that can be filled with a mix of clay, sand, aggregate, and cement in any shape or length you wish. 

In contrast to Superadobe earthbags, no barbed wire is required as the netted mesh allows the material from the lower layer to lock into the new layer.

This creates a much safer build site, saves time and money, and lets you build houses, sheds, retaining and decorative walls, garden beds, planters, and more with simple tools and materials.

Most of our projects center around the 16" bag. It's wide enough to walk on or use a dolly bucket on, has plenty of thermal mass, can go really high if laid properly. We've used it to build a solar shed office, chicken garden, composting toilet outhouse, an outdoor shower,  and are in the early stages of our huge family roundhouse.

How Many Rolls Do I Need?

Feel free to use our handy roll calculator above! Or read on for the nerdy details.

1. Add all perimeter wall lengths (i.e. a 10'x10' building would be 40 linear feet)
2. Add the length of buttresses and internal walls (i.e. 2x 3' buttresses and a 9' internal wall would be 15 linear feet)
3. Decide the height of the wall to calculate how how many layers you’ll need. (i.e. 8' or 96" / 5" tall bag = 19.2 layers)
4. Multiply the length of one layer by how many layers you need, then divide by the length the roll comes in to know how many rolls to buy.  (i.e. 65 linear feet x 19.2 layers = 1,248 divided by 1 roll of 1,640 ft = 76% of one roll)
5. Add 10% and round up to the nearest whole roll (i.e 1248 x 1.1 = 1,372 - just get one roll!)
