What is Hyperadobe?
Hyperadobe Earthbags utilize UV treated raschel mesh tubes filled with soil and compacted into what are essentially formed bricks in whatever shape, size, and length you want.
We've used it to build a solar shed office, chicken garden, composting toilet outhouse, an outdoor shower, benches and planters, and are in the early stages of our huge family roundhouse, all using hyperadobe earthbags.
After laying thousands of feet of bag, publishing hundreds of videos documenting our journey, teaching others our process, and running multiple workshops, we've started to notice that most folks finding hyperadobe are missing the core concepts of earthbag designs found in Superadobe pioneered by Cal-Earth.
Why Earthbag Safety is Important
While we think hyperadobe is a fantastic, sustainable, and cost effective way to build - the truth is you're building walls that are 10x heavier than a normal house.
If those walls fail, the results could be catastrophic - taking down much of the structure or causing injury or death.
For reference we weighed a 6' long by 5" high section of our wall, and it was 700lbs! Our roundhouse has 1 million pounds of earth in it.
Learn Important Core Concepts
The morning of Day 1 ($49) will focus on teaching core concepts that many Superadobe builders know, but hyperadobe builders may not be aware of:
- Groundwork + Foundations
- Shapes, Sizing, & Safe Heights
- Openings & Buttresses
- Interlocking Layers
- Lintels/Headers
- Seams
- Doors, Windows & Cleats
- Self-supporting Arches
- Roofing
- Flooring
- Plastering
- and more...
See the Hyperadobe Roundhouse In Person
Pictures are great, but hands-on is better. The afternoon of Day 1 will include a field trip to our homestead to see our earthbag buildings, including the exposed bags on our huge hyperadobe roundhouse.
This will give you a much better perspective and feel for how these concepts work in the real world.
One-on-One Design & Consulting
For an additional cost ($159), you can choose to attend a second day of individualized consulting for your specific project. Bring your sketches or draw up ideas on the day, and we'll look at them as a group and offer suggestions to increase safety and functionality before you start building.
This will give you a huge leg up to save as much time and money as possible before breaking ground.
The Best Value for Learning Hyperadobe Safety & Design
Attend both days, and save 15% on your ticket ($179).
This will allow you to learn the basics, see the hyperadobe roundhouse in person, and get individualized consulting for your specific project before you start.
