IceMule Coolers

Ice Mule Cooler

With our recent trip to the Dry Tortugas, we knew we had to get a cooler of some sort. We didn’t want anything too big because we wouldn't be needing it often and we didn't have anywhere to store it. Soft sided cooler it is! Thankfully we found one of the best on the market from IceMule Coolers.

With a bit of research we purchased the 20 liter cooler in orange! We decided to try it out in the Keys before our trip to the Tortugas. We filled it with a bag of ice to see how long it would keep it cold.

We checked it 24 hours later and found that while most of the ice had melted, it was still freezing cold in the cooler. Since we knew we could buy more ice on the boat each day, the IceMule wouldn't have any trouble keeping our food cold.

Good News! None of our food went bad in the 2.5 days on the island. We did end up purchasing ice within 24 hours, but everything was still cold despite the 85-90 degree weather on the island.

Thankful In Any Circumstance

Thankful

Can I take a moment and be completely honest with you? Like, I’m gonna tell you whats on my mind and my heart. Sometimes I want to write posts and talk about all the amazing things we are doing and sometimes I just want you to know about all the crap that also comes with traveling full-time. I mean, it’s not all sunshine and unicorns.

For example, several months back our gray tank (the one that holds water from our shower and bathroom sink) fell. Like, it fell off of the support bars and when it fell, it gouged a hole in the tank. Which lead to all the water being emptied into our underbelly. You know, where all the electric wires and such are. Not the best situation. It took us 2 months to get to a place that could get it fixed. TWO MONTHS!! Then when we got it to the shop, they didn’t have the right tank to replace it. If fact, they had ordered 2 tanks, and neither one of them were the right ones to replace the broken one. “We’ll just patch it for now,” they said. Ok, the assured us that it would hold until we could get somewhere with the right tank ordered. Keep in mind, we don’t stay in one place for long which makes organizing/planning repairs really hard.

The Story Behind our New Logo

BareNeckers Logo

You may have noticed things are starting to look a little different around here. After 8 months of transitioning our lives from living in a house and subdivision to traveling full time in our 5th wheel, we finally have the time and brain space to make BareNeckers a full-fledged brand.

Being a designer, the first thing I wanted to nail down was a proper logo. When we changed up our name last year from Last Night Ago to BareNeckers I threw together a simple logotype with our name in it. It was alright, but we always wanted some kind of graphic or badge that would be easily recognizable.

Get To Work Book

In search of the perfect planner for all your adventuring this year? Look no further. I’m here to tell you about my new Get To Work Book from Elise Joy.

Last year I went with the Inkwell Press planner and while that was a great one, I was looking for something a little more simple. I needed more space to write my thoughts and plan this year’s adventures.

I love the simple tabs to flip to a new month. And I love that the front of the book is rather simple and I can make my own doodles on it.

Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina

Sunset In the Florida Keys

We found Sunshine Key RV Resort and Marina through an IG friend - I asked them if they would recommend it and they had lots of good things to say. Once I heard the words ‘heated saltwater pool’ I was sold. (I’m such a baby about cold water) We booked our stay for Dec 1 - Jan 4 (we needed a day to recover from our Dry Tortugas trip).

Upon arrival, we checked in, handed over A WHOLE  BUNCH OF CASH, and we were given our site number and found that we didn’t have sewer hookups! Are you serious? Did you see the $$$$ I just gave you? The nice lady at the office said they had ONE site that we could switch to with full hookups and suggested we drive to both sites and see which one we would rather have. Well, that’s nice! We did that and the other site she suggested was smashed in between other RVs and the first site (the one without full hookups) was near the ‘beach’ but NO ONE was around us! Umm, yes, we will take the ‘private’ lot please! Luckily we had just bought a blue-boy not that long ago so it would come in handy! We opted for showers at the nearby bathhouse (which was very clean) since our gray tank was still broken. We did have the resort come pump our black tank each Saturday morning.

We set up and enjoyed the sunset from our little slice of heaven.
