If you follow us on Instagram, you may have seen some of the amazing places we have been able to visit recently. After all the truck mess in Stockton, we ended up heading out to the Trona Pinnacles! We needed time to rest, recuperate, and hunker down to get some much needed work done and Trona Pinnacles fit the bill. Secluded, quiet, crazy awesome views, and great cell signal. Yes, please!
We arrived to the entrance of the pinnacles and we knew we were in for a long drive. It’s a good 5/6 miles on a crazy washboard road. With an average speed of about 5 to 8 miles per hour, we made it out with the Airstream in tow in about 45 minutes!
We dropped the Airstream at the parking lot at the base of the pinnacles near the pit toilets in order to go scout out the perfect place for us to spend the week, and boy did we find it!

There was a time when we were in New Mexico and we went to a ‘fancy’ grocery store. We were super excited to find a place where we could get really good meat and produce. We were so excited that we may have broke our grocery budget a bit that week. However, when we went to pay for these wonderful goodies, the grocery store had NO BAGS! Like...they don’t supply bags for your food. Say whaaat?
The options were to carry all of the stuff or put it in a huge box. Since the box wouldn’t fit in our truck with all 6 of us in it, we carried out our stuff and left a bit annoyed. But later that week when we went to a ‘regular’ grocery store to get a few things, they also had NO BAGS! What the heck?
Is this a New Mexico thing or do no stores give you bags? I even asked the clerk. She said it’s just certain towns/cities that don’t offer bags. You have to bring your own! Well, okay then...
After thinking about it, this is a really good thing! Annoying for those of us who aren’t prepared...but it’s kind of sickening to think about how much trash we're creating every time we load our groceries in those plastic bags. We average 10-15 of the bags each week so why not just get some reusable ones?
That’s when I found BagPodz! This company has a great solution for reusable bags. Typically I see reusable bags that are huge and take up a lot of space. That's not the case with BagPodz.
They use eco friendly material and stuff 10 bags into a pouch that is super easy to take anywhere! We keep ours in our truck so that we have them with us all the time! PLUS it’s got this big carabiner on it that can easily clip to the grocery cart or my purse!

Leaving Moab we didn’t have much of a plan. That seems to be the norm now. We typically decide where we’re going one or two days before we arrive. This time, we found a Boondocker’s Welcome host that would let us get some much needed shipments while there. We ordered and thought our Amazon Prime shipment would be there in 2 days, but turned into 7. Oh...small towns. We felt so bad being stuck there for so long, but our host was super nice and allowed us to stay until our shipments arrived. And the town, though small, was so great.
Yes, you have to drive 2 towns over to get to a grocery store, but this little town of Kanosh was so adorable. Maybe it was the local Mercantile lovingly called the Merc that was run by volunteers just so there was a place that the locals could grab a few things. Maybe it was the solitude, or the friendly people that invite you over for pancakes on a Sunday morning even though they just met you. There was just a peace about the town that I won't forget. And the sunsets, perfect.

After freezing in Canada, we knew we needed to get south and fast! We weighed our options and decided to head to MOAB!! People ask us all the time how we decide where to go and if we make plans in advance. The answer is, we just want to be warm, and we wing it most of the time. That's the beauty of having a rig that can be off grid. We just need to find some great BLM land in the area we want to see and we're set!
Luckily our route to Moab had us going through La Grande, OR which is where we spent all last summer as camp hosts. It was so nice to get back there and talk with everyone again. If you find yourself in easter Oregon, Grande Hot Springs RV Resort is a fantastic stop. Their pool, hot tub, showers and buildings are heated with the nearby hot spring and it’s such a relaxing place.
Of course we had to hit up our favorite ice cream shop in town and then drive the short distance to Union, OR to stock up on the best local produce from Platz Family Produce. If you’re there in the summer during berry season, make sure you go pick some strawberries and raspberries. They’re seriously the best!
We stayed a few nights in La Grande enjoying friends, the pool, and long hot showers but it’s still not as warm as we would like it to be so time to head to Moab!
The long drive had us going right through Boise, ID so we overnighted at friends house! It was so nice to catch up with Bold Adventure. We even got to check out their new 23ZERO rooftop tent.

After spending a day in Canada at Butchart Gardens, we were ready for more of this wonderful country called Canada. We researched and planned and researched some more. We talked to our insurance company, changed our AT&T plan and prayed the wildfires wouldn’t mess it all up.
And then we went for it! Hello Canada!
