Side view of Airstream at sunset

Oh, Las Cruces. Last time we were here, we were celebrating our 2nd nomadiversary. This time, we were celebrating one year in our Airstream! But let’s be honest...we came here for the hiking and the views.

After we left Oliver Lee Memorial State Park while visiting White Sands, we headed down to Las Cruces. We found a sweet new boondocking spot since the place we stayed last time was OVERRUN with rigs. Seriously, there were so many people there!

For the first few days, we were able to squeeze into a tiny site at the base of the Organ Mountains.

Camp at White Sands

Update: the Moment Lens article we wrote from this experience is up!

I don’t love visiting places two (or three) times, but White Sands National Monument is a different story. This is actually our THRID visit to White Sands. While there are a couple really good options for boondocking in the area, sometimes it’s nice to have a good shower and not worry about where to get water next. We were able to snag in a first-come-first-serve spot with electric hookup at Oliver Lee Memorial State Park which is actually the same place we stayed when we first visited White Sands back in 2016.

The first time we came to White Sands the kids were so little!

What's in Our Living Room

Airstream Dinette/ Living Room

Okay, yeah. We don’t really have a 'living room' but what to you call a space that is the dining room, master bedroom, office, and theater room? After the response I got from the What's In Our Kitchen post, I figured maybe you'd like to know everything we have, one 'room' at a time!

This space is used the most in our tiny home on wheels. During the day we (usually) put our dinette table up. This is typically where I get a lot of my work done, where we play cards, where we eat, where the kids work on projects and hang out. Jonathan’s office is in this space as well.

So, what's in this living room? That’s a great question and I’m about to show you. Take note though, things in tiny spaces change quickly. I am still regularly trying to figure out the best places to store things,  but for now…here’s whats in our 'living room' area.

"How are your curtains hung?"

We knew we wanted curtains instead of blinds for a few reasons, but mostly because it just feels like home. Softens up the place and adds a bit of character in this metal tin can.

It was really hard to find curtains that we both agreed on. I tend to like a bit of a pattern and I LOVE color, but Jonathan likes to keep things simple. So, we settled on these curtains from West Elm

I had a lovely lady from my home church cut them and sew them to the correct length and we couldn't be more pleased with how they turned out. Hello velcro, for easy removal if we need to wash them! They're light and airy but gives a little bit of sass with that geometric pattern.

One Year Ago!

Celebrating one year in our Airstream

Today marks one year!

One year ago we pulled this renovated Airstream out of my parents driveway and headed south. After 195 days of blood, sweat and lots of tears, we were finally on our way. What I thought would be a quick renovation (2-3 months) turned into 6 months and 2 weeks. Things like this always take longer than you think they will. There are so many unknown factors when you begin an Airstream remodel.
