Well, it's official! We actually sold some shirts and as of a week ago shipped our first products out the door. It was pretty exciting. Don't the kids seem excited? Who would have ever thought anyone would actually buy something from us?!

In case you missed it - we soft launched our Last Night Ago store a couple of weeks ago to friends and family and we've already had some pre-orders come in. Which is super exciting and really humbling.
Thank you guys so much. For real.
We had always planned on doing a giveaway when we launched, but we ran out of time trying to get it ready. As you probably surmised by the title of this post - it's ready!
This hand-painted and hand-finished sign says, "If you only look after yourself you'll never find yourself." It's the Longnecker version of Matthew 10:39, but it really just means that if you are selfish with all your time, money, resources, kindness and love it's all for nothing. We truly find ourselves when we're generous with what we've been given. It's something we believe in as we setup our store so that we could use a percentage on the profits to help those in need.
So! If you want to be entered to win this sign you just need to pick up a super comfy shirt from our store sometime between now and June 8th. And of course anyone who's already bought a shirt will be entered to win as well.

Tell your friends! Let's give what we've been given.

About a year ago, Ashley and I started talking about how we could work on projects together. She had her sign, furniture and photography to keep her busy while I had my design, website and video jobs. With all that creating going on, surely there was an easy way for us to combine our powers, spend more time together, and make things we were passionate about, right? Turns out it's not that easy. Let's just say we spent a lot of dates brainstorming instead of hopelessly staring into each other's eyes.
Finally, we settled on a t-shirt company. Why? Because we both love t-shirts. The really comfortable ones that have awesome designs on them. We also loved the idea of creating a brand that stood for something. We didn't want to make shirts with random designs on them. We wanted to make shirts that said important things. Things that would make you think. Things that would help make us better. We also wanted to use some of the money we would make to help others. To live out the things our designs would say. For our launch we're partnering with Rice Bowls - a great organization that helps feed kids all over the world. Hopefully we can show our own kids where art, business and charity collide.
But hey, let's talk about the designs, right?!
One of our goals with this whole thing was to get back to creating with our hands. Or maybe that was my goal. I use the computer too much. Anyway, we wanted to be as analog as possible with the whole process so all of the designs you see for our first shirts came from sketches in my notebook.

That sounds like a really good band name....$50 & Arles. However, I'm just talking about my latest project. I had $50 in my "sign" fund and I've been looking for a few months for a really awesome dresser that I can turn into our media table (I need more storage). Low and behold, I found this beast on Craigslist.

Ok, I so do not shop at Pottery Barn - like ever - but when I came across this PB mirror knock off I knew I had to make it. Why spend $700 when you can make it yourself? It's project time!
Three Dollar Trees later, I came home with 44 mirrors ($1 each)! Thank you Dollar Tree :)
